SHOULD YOU BUY SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 IN 2021 (WORTH IT BUYING)

SHOULD YOU BUY SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 IN 2021 (WORTH IT BUYING)

 SO LET'S

talk about another phone that came

out
back in 2016 and this specific device
was the samsung galaxy s7 now this was
back in 2016
such an interesting and probably a huge
monumental upgrade
coming from the predecessor which was
the galaxy s6 and what i can tell you
about the samsung galaxy s7
is that it's a pretty important phone in
the whole entire lore of samsung
but also how it holds up in this day and
age is very interesting because
the hardware is still pretty decent the
screen is beautiful
it still feels like a very premium phone
and really anytime i talk about this
device even last year
a lot of people still you know love this
phone including the s7 edge
but i feel like the biggest downside of
this phone is the software and
that's really the biggest downside of
most samsung phones now if you want to
pick this phone up i'll leave it down
linked down below
but i'm also going to leave a couple of
other phones i'm not going to just leave
this phone because nobody wants this one
anymore but i'll leave an s10 and s20
and s10
and whatever other phones i can think of
at the time you can get the from there
and help support the channel at the same
time
now on the front of the samsung galaxy
s7 we have
a very beautiful 5.1 inch super amoled
display
and it's a 1440p panel and back in 2016
there weren't a lot of other
manufacturers who were doing it like
samsung was at the time
even oneplus i mean oneplus didn't even
ramp up to 1440p away later but 2016
this was a very good screen on a phone
even with the home button and all that
stuff with the top and bottom bezel
it's really not that bad you know we
have to give samsung a lot of credit
they make really really good panels now
they're kind of going backwards with the
note 20
that one has a lower resolution panel
than the s7 very stupid stuff i don't
know what samsung doing they're going
like going backwards
but this thing has a beautiful panel for
sure and i feel like it's one of its
biggest assets still
the fingerprint sensor on the front too
was really really cool on the bottom you
do have the micro usb port
this was the last samsung s series the
device to have this
they eventually switched over to usbc
with the s8 you have a headphone jack on
this phone as well
a micro sd card sound on this device
which you took out with the previous
version
with the s6 then they brought it back
with the s7 beautiful stuff i love
saying that stuff
this one also had ip certification which
was also really cool
and on the back you had a glass pack on
this phone which
back in 2016 there were phones obviously
that have done it before but you know
i'm glad the s7 still kept that glass
back
because it's a very premium feature for
sure and this phone has wireless
charging
and it has a really good capability it's
a capable phone for sure there's really
nothing horrible about it
obviously it's a little bit more of a
data design but that doesn't mean it's
ugly or that doesn't mean it's not
capable of doing anything anymore so
for sure when it comes down to the
outside of this phone it still
feels and looks really really good it
still feels like a very premium phone
the home button is a little rocky but
other than that this phone still feels
like a premium phone that's why it's
kind of like an
illusion in hawaii but on top of that
glass back you do have a single camera
setup which i'll go and hit on right now
it is a single 12 megapixel sensors a
wide angle lens
and i think overall it's still a pretty
decent sensor you know has optical image
stabilization
you have the ability of shooting 4k
videos on it which is really cool
and i feel like the back camera of this
thing is still really good you have a
lot of feet not a lot but you have quite
a few features built in
into the software of this camera too
which is a huge asset for sure
and i'll definitely tell you if you have
to go and take a lot of photos outdoors
and kind of like you're in that realm
you're going to have a pretty good
experience with the samsung galaxy s7
i'm going to imagine
in terms of the camera standpoint now
it's not going to be perfect you don't
have 4k 60
you don't have any like crazy crazy
features like i don't think you have
portrait mode night mode or anything
like that but there are a lot of
features built in
and there's a lot of features that you
can download from the play store with
the different camera apps and stuff
that you can also maintain and get a lot
of other features that way too so
it's not like there's only just this
phone or this camera app there's a lot
of other capabilities through the app
store as well
but the front camera i think is the
biggest problem it's only a 5 megapixel
sensor where you can only shoot 1440p
videos on now that in and of itself is
kind of a bigger issue than anything
else
i mean there's no there's no 4k on the
front which and even the front camera's
not even that great you know even if it
was
not able to shoot 4k but it was still a
good sensor i don't really think the
front camera on this thing is that good
it's very grainy
doesn't look that good so keep that in
mind i don't want that to basically
speak on the you know
impact that this phone had but
definitely when it comes down to the
camera sensor on the front
it's really not that great but the back
camera is still pretty good though so in
terms of the camera setup that's pretty
much how i would cover it up
that's not even the worst aspect of this
phone the camera is actually not even
that bad
it's the software that this phone was
running and what it ended with so first
of all i started off with android
marshmallow
it ended up with android oreo it did not
get one ui which was a pretty big
samsung redesign which still isn't even
that good but here's the biggest problem
this thing ended off with touchwiz or
samsung experience or whatever it was at
the time
and i never liked it i never liked even
before when ui when ui still isn't even
that great
but touchwiz samsung experience and
definitely not my cup of tea
and if you can get this phone and you
know road rooting and custom rom or
whatever
then by all means go for it there's only
a select few models that support that
the samsung galaxy s7 that i have the
snapdragon model does not
really support it i tried it a couple
different ways i was able to root and
customer on my galaxy
s6 unfortunately this phone was not able
to do it and i'm actually really sad
about it but it's whatever
and i mean the software has features and
stuff which is cool
but it is pretty outdated considering
we're already on android 11 so
in terms of software that pretty much
covers it up now performance wise
this thing has that exynos 80 90 chipset
i guess there's no snapdragon version of
this phone maybe there was i don't know
that's the octa-core cpu and four
gigabytes of ram on each model
and what i can tell you is in terms of
the performance standpoint
is that there's a couple of different
ways to go about looking at it you know
with the 2016
phone it's really not that slow when you
consider this thing was a 2016 phone at
the time
and it's all almost four or five years
old at this point i would definitely say
it's a decent performing phone i don't
think it's smooth i don't think it's
fast
but you know if you are able to get the
apps loaded because android oreo is a
little bit old
if you're able to get the apps loaded if
you're able to go through all that then
that's a really really awesome thing i
say go for it
but there will be situations very soon
where a lot of the apps are not going to
be supported anymore
so that's a pretty big problem in it of
itself but another big thing about this
specific phone
is that it's just pretty laggy it's
pretty glitchy it's not like a crazy
smooth experience you are definitely
going to be seeing
some glitch frames everywhere games and
stuff will also be pretty okay
but i feel like this is a bigger problem
with the software than the hardware and
i'll give you an example when i did root
and customer on my galaxy s6
i threw on a very stock rom on it and it
was pretty smooth and it was pretty fast
it was overheating a lot
but it was very like i was surprised
about it it was very smooth
it was pretty fast the s7 is just not
really like that so if this thing had
stock software
i feel like it'd be a way different
story and i think if you're somebody who
is you know doesn't need the most amount
of you know performance or
if you currently use the galaxy s7
that's a whole different story but if
you're somebody who wants to go ahead
and use a phone like this
as their main device i feel like you're
definitely going to run into problems
it's not going to be perfect
it's not going to be a pretty picture
you're definitely going to run into
problems if you try to use the galaxy s7
performance
every single day for every single task
in 2021
but i also think that if you don't
expect a lot from this device
and if you know what you're getting into
then i think it's actually not
that bad for the price tag for the age
and considering that it's a samsung
touchwiz device
i think it's kind of okay and it's
you'll probably know what you're getting
into but i would not buy this phone
if you want something that's the most
stable device even from this year i
think a phone like
the pixel 2 or even the original pixel i
want to give you a better experience in
this one in my opinion so
in terms of performance that really
pretty much covers it up now ending it
off with the battery life
this thing has a 3 000 million power
built in inside of it which at that time
was pretty good it had wireless charging
and it was
increased from the previous model which
is great but i will tell you the most
galaxy s7
you know batteries have degraded over
time so it's definitely not going to be
at that full 3000
mine wasn't when's that like 2400 or
something like that it's
created a lot so that's kind of what i
would say about this one i mean expect
to get
okay battery from a 2016 device it's
definitely not going to be that great i
would say at least a couple hours of
screen on time but it's not going to be
that pretty of a picture
also here you know it's not going to be
comparable to something like a galaxy
s20
or oneplus 8t or an iphone 12 you're not
going to be getting that type of battery
life from this device
so to kind of sum up this video and to
answer the question is the samsung
galaxy s7 still worth it
in 2021 well this is what i'll tell you
you know
first of all some pros i just want to
get some pros of this one out of the way
it's actually not a bad feeling phone i
feel like the way this phone feels
is one of its biggest assets it feels
like still a premium phone because you
do have glass on the front obviously in
glass in the back
you have a very beautiful display on
this phone like it actually feels really
good
and looks really good you have a
fingerprint sensor you have a headphone
jack
micro sd card slot support and ip
certification those things right there
are really awesome you have a pretty
decent back camera on this phone too
which is pretty good
you have i guess you know app support
still you don't have any software
support anymore maybe security update
here and there
but no full you know like os updates
anymore and you have wireless charging
which is really cool
too but there are several cons about
this phone as well
i mean the battery life isn't that great
anymore you're on a very outdated
version of software that may not be the
most secure version of software
you're not getting any of the you know
cool features that android 9
10 or 11 brought so that's another
pretty big thing to keep in mind
there's no usb type-c support on this
thing there is quite a bit of bezel
around
the panel which may not be the best
looking thing ever the you know front
camera
isn't that great from my experience it's
you know pretty grainy and it didn't
really give me that good of experience
from using it throughout the last couple
years
there's no 4k at 60 which is okay you
know for the most part and the
performance really isn't amazing i mean
it's not even that great for a 2016
phone
like i said before i think you know a
google pixel of that year or an iphone
of that year
are way smoother than the samsung of
that year in this case this specific
device so
that's pretty much what i would say like
i said i would not recommend anyone
going out of their way to pick up a
galaxy s7 but if you can find one for a
super cheap price and if you really just
need a phone
and you're desperate to get one i think
the galaxy s7 is great for those people
but if you're somebody who wants to get
a you know a better phone
and even stick with the same year of
device i would recommend picking up a
phone like an iphone 7
plus or even the original google pixel
both those phones came out in 2016
they're around the same price too the
seven plus is a little bit more
expensive
the google pixels are a little bit
cheaper so i would probably recommend
picking up those phones in this one by
being honest
