SHOULD YOU BUY SAMSUNG GALAXY S6 IN 2021

SHOULD YOU BUY SAMSUNG GALAXY S6 IN 2021

so the samsung galaxy s6 came out many

many years ago okay came out in 2015
but what's very interesting about this
specific device
is that it's actually kind of relevant
again because
with the samsung galaxy s21 that came
out pretty much
six years after this device came out
this galaxy s21 that just came out
and the samsung galaxy s6 are so similar
in so many ways
that they both kind of hit me and the
same impact that basically with s6 had
in 2015 it's kind of how i'm feeling
right now which is crazy now the samsung
galaxy s6 is actually
one of the best-selling phones that ever
came out surprisingly even though
it was one of the weirdest samsung
galaxy phones that ever came out
it was impactful but also it was kind of
strange as well i didn't really have
you know the best impact for a lot of
people with me specifically
i wasn't really too fond of you know
galaxies at that time i you know i used
a nexus at the time
and so i already kind of didn't like
samsung but now i love samsung but with
the s6 it just is so strange in my
opinion you know because the
similarities between the s21
and the s6 are just so crazy now i won't
leave an s6 in the description but i'll
leave a couple other phones that i would
recommend this year
in the description below you can get
from there and help support the channel
at the same time
now on the front of the samsung galaxy
s6 you still have
a beautiful 5.1 inch super amoled
display it's a 1440p panel
and here's what's crazy even though this
phone came out in 2015
the resolution and the pixels per inch
are higher on the samsung galaxy s6
than on the samsung galaxy s21 and i
think the samsung galaxy s 21 plus as
well
how crazy is that that just does not
make any sense to me and
actually the galaxy s6 still has a
pretty good panel on it for sure it's
not a bad panel at all
it still holds up extremely well
obviously there's bezel on the top and
bottom but it's really not that bad
you know it's actually still a pretty
decent looking phone you have the home
role="button" start-offset="110000" style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: white; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; background: white; border: 0px; color: var(--yt-spec-text-primary); cursor: pointer; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" tabindex="0">button on the front which doubled as a
fingerprint sensor the capacitive
buttons on the side
and overall the front of the panel for
sure is something that is
a plus more than a minus 100 percent of
the fact so
in terms of the front panel it gets a
thumbs up for me on my books
on the bottom you have that micro usb
port which is typical the
headphone jack as well and what's very
interesting like i stated before
is that samsung actually ended up
removing the micro sd card slot
on this device and they removed it again
on the galaxy s21 so that's why there's
just so much similarity and overlap
between the s6 and the s21 i don't
really think anybody's really picking up
the s6 anymore
but between both man that's just so
crazy that samsung actually ended up
removing it
it's just very very strange to me now on
the back you do have that glass back
with wireless charging which is really
cool so this was one of the first
samsung phones to bring wireless
charging
i do understand that the galaxy s4 and i
think the s5 also had it
but some variants didn't have it this
model all the variants had it which was
great
this was also the first you know samsung
galaxy s series of device
to have a glass back even though they
enclosed the battery at this point
they had to make that change in order to
make the phone feel that much more
premium
so this was a pretty big change i think
samsung was really focusing in on trying
to be
a premium flagship phone rather than
being a device that has
all the features and you know plastic
back and it doesn't feel that great
this was a huge shift in samsung and
it's pretty crazy because
a huge shift took a huge toll on the
public image you know
not as much as the note 7 or anything
but it was definitely up there
so the way this phone still feels in the
hand it's very good it still feels like
color: white; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; background: white; border: 0px; color: var(--yt-spec-text-primary); cursor: pointer; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" tabindex="0">a flagship phone
it doesn't feel cheap the only thing
that really ages it is like the top and
bottom bezel but other than that it
still looks pretty good
now on the back of that glass you do
have the you know single camera setup
which we'll go ahead and hit on right
now
it's a single 16 megapixel sensor and
what i can tell you is and i've said
this for years samsung does a really
really good job on their camera sensors
and this was no different this camera
even back in 2015
could shoot 4k videos which is really
good this was the same year the success
came out
and that could also shoot 4k videos and
overall this quality of this camera
is actually not that bad the thing that
dates it the most there's a couple
different things first of all
the photo quality isn't like amazing i
don't want to say that but for a
six-year-old phone it's really really
good you also have you know video
capability you know with a 4k at 30 and
that's still pretty current
but on top of that you have a lot of
features built into the camera as well
and i've said this before and i'll say
it again samsung throws so many features
in their camera setup
and sometimes it's kind of like too much
it's like a lot of features nobody's
ever going to use
but at the end of the day more features
are better than not a lot of features
and in this case
you're definitely going to have a lot of
features built into the camera for sure
on the front you do have a 5 megapixel
sensor where you can do 1440p
videos again this is another place where
it ages at no 4k on the front
but i think it's okay you know the front
camera definitely isn't that good it's
probably the worst part about this phone
in terms of the camera
but most people are probably going to
use the back camera anyway even though i
use the front camera more
and the thing that ages it the most is
probably the single camera
you know it doesn't have multiple
cameras it doesn't even have a mac or
depth lens so in terms of that you're
probably going to be outdated a little
bit
but it's not a bad camera at all and if
i had to use it i think i would be kind
of okay with it as long as i knew
how to edit up photos a little bit so in
terms of the camera setup i think it
gets a thumbs up for me on my books
now moving on to the software side this
thing started off with android 5.0.2 we
were able to upgrade it to android 8.0
oreo
this was right before and i don't even
think this thing got android 8.0 oreo i
think this thing got android 7.0 because
the galaxy s7 guy 8.0 and here's the
thing
beyond all that last year i think not
even a year ago i was actually able to
go ahead
and root and custom raw my galaxy s6 i
tried to root in customer on a lot of
other devices too but the galaxy s6
was one of those devices that i was able
to successfully do that and
what's so crazy about it is that i was
able to get android 10
on this device that came on in 2015 and
what's so awesome about that
was that it actually handled android 10
very very well now it was not one ui
three
it was literally just you know some
random custom rom that was like a stock
android
and it was surprisingly good the
performance was really good at it too
now it wasn't like you know samsung
galaxy s20 worthy performance
but it was pretty surprising and i
wasn't expecting it to even work
but i was expecting it to actually you
know not be you know super smooth
it was much smoother than whatever
android version we ended it off on so
in terms of software it's completely
outdated but if you want to go in custom
rom it you know i'm all yours for it i
would say definitely go for it
in terms of the performance segment i'll
break it down in terms of the custom rom
and not custom rom format as well
we had the exynos 7420 octa chipset
and three gigs of ram on each model so
what i can tell you is
is that in terms of the performance
stock it really wasn't that great you
know it's very glitchy
you're going to have a lot of problems
when it comes down to it i think you
know most people know by now it's not
going to be that smooth of a performance
and i think that's totally okay
as i stated before i don't really think
anybody's going to be using this phone
as a you know flagship type of device
now with that being said
when i custom rom this device there was
so much
surprisingness when it came down to just
how smooth this device was
i honestly was not expecting this thing
to be as smooth as it was you know i
already told you this
and that was something that really
shocked me and when you have a device
like this
you definitely want something that's
going to be lasting you for a long time
and you want something that's going to
be smooth
in this case it's not going to last you
a long time unless you custom rom it and
it's not going to be extremely smooth
unless you custom rom it you know even
then it's not going to be extremely
smooth
but it's still going to be capable for
the most part so in terms of the
performance
that's pretty much how i would cover it
up it's definitely not an amazing
performing phone anymore
but if you had to use it i would kind of
say go for it you know what i mean it's
definitely not going to you know
be a horrible performing phone but it's
definitely not going to be that good
either so in terms of performance that
pretty much covers it up now ending it
off with the battery life you know this
device
actually did have the smallest battery
from any samsung galaxy s1 in a very
long time at that point
especially coming from its predecessor
it had a 2 50 million power battery
and again it definitely wasn't that
great considering they you know
increase the resolution of the display
and all that and you had wireless
charging but it really doesn't matter
anymore
the battery life on this device was
definitely one of the weirder aspects of
it
it definitely wasn't good even when a
custom rom data wasn't that good either
i was running into so many issues in
terms of battery life
and the phone overheating so if you're
okay with being around a charger then go
for it but i probably wouldn't recommend
anybody using this phone for the most
part in terms of the battery life so
in terms of that that pretty much covers
it up now to kind of sum up this video
and to answer the question
is the samsung galaxy s6 still worth it
in 2021 well this is pretty much what
i'll tell you first of all
i really don't think this phone is worth
it anymore i think that's kind of a
given
but just because i don't think it's
worth it doesn't mean there's not
already a ton of pros for it
or that there's you know nothing about
this phone that's super impactful
anymore because there are
this phone still has a very beautiful
display it was the first samsung galaxy
s phone
i think in terms of the galaxy s series
to actually bring a 1440p display
so that's a pretty big asset right there
you had a pretty good feeling body it
felt
extremely premium at that time it
doesn't feel cheap you can pick this
thing up today
and still feel like you have a pretty
premium phone get the fingerprint sensor
in the front
the headphone jack on this phone still
you have the custom rom capability on
this phone which is crazy
i'm just so used to not custom romming
my samsung galaxy s phones
because they just don't have any custom
roms in this case this one did have it
which is really cool so that in and of
itself was something that really shocked
me for sure
but there are a lot of cons for this
device as well i mean the battery life
really isn't that great stock software
is not there it's not getting any more
software updates either
the camera on the front isn't that great
and the back is kind of dated even
though it's actually kind of good
performance on this phone really isn't
getting any better either it's pretty
slow when it comes down to really
anything you're going to do with it
so there are a lot of cons there's a few
pros as well
but i'll definitely tell you get the
galaxy s8 is probably the lowest i would
go
in terms of you know the phone i'd
recommend in 2021 and even then i
probably wouldn't go that low i'd
probably go for like something like a
galaxy s9
a galaxy s10 or s10 is like the cream of
the crop if you can pull one of those
phones
then that's going to be setting you up
for a long time but the galaxy s9 or
galaxy s8
