SHOULD YOU BUY SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 8 IN 2021

SHOULD YOU BUY SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 8 IN 2021

another device that in my opinion

is one of my most favorite devices from
any android
already know how this goes but the
samsung galaxy note 8
was one of the biggest flagship devices
of that year the 2017 era
and i think this was an amazing phone
when it first came out
and it was kind of you know coming back
from the note 7
you know total debacle that blew up in
everyone's faces literally
and i can't believe samsung actually
recovered from that i knew they would
but it's so
funny that they actually recovered from
that because that was like such an
embarrassing thing to come you know to
actually happen to them
and the fact that they actually came
back and you know people kind of forget
about the note 7 it's pretty insane this
is not a note 7 video this is a note 8
and i will tell you you can pick these
things up for like around 200
probably even less than that in a lot of
other places i won't necessarily
maybe i'll leave a note 8 link down
below but also leave like a note 9 note
10 maybe like a galaxy s22
you can get that from the description
below you can help support the channel
at the same time
now the front of the samsung galaxy note
8 still completely holds up in so many
different areas for sure
you know you have that 6.3 inch super
amoled display
and what's really really good about this
panel is that it's a 1440p panel i mean
this is a beautiful screen
and samsung makes really good panels and
this was definitely one of them
you have a you know bezel on the top and
bottom but it's really not that bad
the fact that the panel kind of curves
to the sides and it goes all the way to
the edges
makes this phone feel so like good just
makes it feel still like a flagship
even though this phone came out around
the same time actually the iphone 10
came out
i still think this phone looks a little
bit better just because it didn't have a
notch
even though it had kind of like bigger
bezels on the top and bottom it still
was a better looking panel in my opinion
than a lot of phones that came out that
year and consider this
the samsung galaxy s21 which is a phone
that's coming out like in literally in a
couple of days or
being announced that thing is expected
to have a plastic bag
with a lower resolution panel than this
device so that's another pretty
important thing that's like so funny to
me so i can talk all day about the panel
but we don't have the time
on the bottom of this device we do have
the usb type c port and the headphone
jack
and the s pen which is really awesome
the s pen is like a stylus
which that in and of itself is another
really cool thing about this device
we have ip certification on the samsung
galaxy note 8 as well
and we have a micro sd card slot on this
phone too so it's kind of like the
triple threat you have like
so many different things on this device
which makes it that much better of a
deal in my opinion so
for sure when it comes down to it the
samsung galaxy note 8 panel
is so beautiful to me the way it looks
on the front the
you know i o on it is completely fine
with me too and on the back
you have that glass back which is still
so beautiful i mean
i just feel like i'm like a sales person
of the samsung galaxy note like it's so
funny i should have been
and it has wireless charging and all
that crazy stuff too so so the way this
phone feels in the hand is extremely
perfect to me and it still feels
extremely like a flagship for sure
now on the top of that glass back we do
have a dual camera setup on this device
too so we have a 12 megapixel wide angle
lens
and a 12 megapixel telephoto lens and
what's very interesting is is that the
quality of these photos
is actually still pretty good you know
you have optical image stabilization
which is great
you have 4k at 30 which is also really
really good i was hoping it would have
4k at 60 but i think 4k
at 30 is okay when you consider the fact
that this is a 2017 device
and it you know had a dual camera setup
i think i'll give it some benefit of the
doubt there
now i think you know the camera and the
specific module and software
is really good because you have a lot of
features built into the software so
that's a pretty big asset for it but
i do feel like the video quality is one
of those areas that the samsung device
of this year specifically
didn't really do so well i think the
samsung galaxy s8
also came out this year and although
these phones and knocked it out of the
park in a lot of areas
the video quality isn't necessarily one
of my favorites if i'm being completely
honest
but i think the samsung galaxy s8 plus
had very good video qualities believe it
or not however the photo quality is
really really good i mean you can take
these photos out you know outdoors take
really good photos
indoors i've been doing a lot of you
know indoor photo comparisons between
the galaxy note as well
not really that great but i think it's
totally okay for the most part and i
think the front camera is like i said
before
it's probably the bigger differences in
the biggest letdowns you have an 8
megapixel head and go lens
then like a 2 megapixel iris scanner if
you really care about it now you do have
the ability of shooting 1440p videos on
the front
but there's no 4k on the front there's
no like you know 1080p at 60
so that's kind of another big deal we
did eventually start getting you know
high resolution to you know
filming qualities in the front later on
you know 2018 2017
2018 2019 2020 but unfortunately we
didn't get it this year so that's
another big thing it may be a big deal
to you
but in terms of the camera quality that
pretty much covers it up that's kind of
how i would cover up both the camera
quality on the front
and the back of the samsung galaxy note
8 in 2021 now moving on to the software
this is another area where this phone
just really makes me cry in there's a
just stopped at one ui you know it's up
to one ui one it did start off with
android nougat
i feel like it could have gotten further
android 10 wasn't an insane upgrade when
it came down to the you know what it
kept you know what it had
inside of it but it brought the new
gesture based design and if the note 8
had that type of gesture based design
within android 10 i understand one ui
had that kind of gesture thing but it
wasn't like what it was on android 10.
that really did add so much more
character to the device my samsung
galaxy note 8 and s9
it was like a whole different like phone
in my opinion and i wish the note8 had
it
it didn't you can't even custom rom a
lot of these versions
the versions i have i can't custom wrong
and i think the exynos versions are also
really hard to customize as well
so when it comes down to it there's
really not much we can do there but
in terms of software that pretty much
covers it up it's kind of like a sad
scale to be honest because i still feel
like this phone could have supported so
much more but
moving on to the performance side of
things the samsung galaxy note 8 has the
qualcomm snapdragon 835 chip status side
of it an octa-core cpu an adreno 540 gpu
and it's six gigs of ram on every single
model that this phone came out in
now i think you know the day-to-day task
of this phone as i typically say i mean
that's kind of like the one thing that i
always mentioned about these phones i
think you're going to have an
okay experience with this phone nowadays
i feel like the whole entire ui
specifically the software really does
bog down of a lot of what this phone
could have been
i think going day-to-day tasks you know
such as you know opening up apps and
downloading apps and you know taking
phone calls going to snapchat tick tock
all this stuff
i think you're going to be okay i don't
think you're going to have a horrible
experience with that
but i think when it comes down to the
whole entire smoothness factor
you know expecting the app to open up
super fast or
expect it to close out you know super
smoothly or you know to maneuver from
one app to the other
and not have apps crash in the
background i feel like you're gonna have
some problems when it comes down to
there
even though this phone has a pretty
decent amount of ram for a 2017
phone it definitely isn't aided by the
software i think the software as stated
before it does affect more so than
anything else and
i feel like that's kind of the more
sadder aspects of it i was expecting it
to have
kind of better you know performance and
i kind of set a last year too towards
the end of the year
especially once the note 20s came out
and i was comparing it to those devices
the more and more phones that are coming
out now they are definitely faster but
i'm seeing more improvements in the
smoothness factor
and we're seeing this based off the fact
with the 220hz displays
and all that stuff i mean android is
really trying to you know samsung and
all these other manufacturers
are really trying to make their devices
smoother and the note 8 is a fast phone
i think still for sure
but it's definitely not smooth and i
don't think anybody would consider this
like
the smoothest phone of that year and
it's definitely not a smooth phone
anymore
but it's still certainly i think a fast
phone even though it's a little choppy
here and there
i still think it's fast for the most
part so in terms of the overall
performance aspect
that's pretty much how i would cover it
up at this point now ending it off with
the battery life this phone does have a
3 300 mm
battery inside of it and i think that's
actually not a bad size battery for the
most part
it's definitely not like the best
battery size ever but i think for the
background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; background: white; border: 0px; color: var(--yt-spec-text-primary); cursor: pointer; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" tabindex="0">day-to-day tasks you're going to be
perfectly fine as data before
with this type of you know battery life
now it has degraded over time so that's
kind of like another big thing to keep
in mind
it's not at that full 3 300 for a
majority of people it's probably gotten
down to like thirty three thousand
probably more so less than that
but i think for the time being is
probably an okay battery life for a
majority of people
and i think as i said before the
software is one of those areas where
these devices
really kind of suck in if i'm being
completely honest that's the easiest way
i can put it
and because of that that really does
hinder a lot of what the software
could have enabled in the battery size
so in terms of battery that pretty much
covers it up now to kind of sum up this
video and say answer the question
is the samsung galaxy note 8 still worth
it in 2021 well this is pretty much what
i'll tell you the samsung galaxy note 8
i think is still worth it
to some people out there it's definitely
not like an amazing phone i don't think
it's perfect by any means
but there are still some pros with this
device and when you're getting a
beautiful panel on the front
it's a very good panel for sure and my
heater just came on so it's about to be
connected a lot in the background but
the panel on this thing is still pretty
beautiful for the most part it's 6.3
inches and a super amoled display
so that in and of itself is another
pretty good thing about this phone as
well it's 1440p
you have the s pen which that in and of
itself is another huge thing about this
phone too
and that just adds that much more
character and that much more features to
this type of device
you have ip certification a micro sd
card slot support on this phone too
that's another huge thing about this
phone i mean say what you will
but that is another cool feature about
it and whenever you look at a phone like
this
you're going to have that micro sd card
slot which is another really cool thing
you have wireless charging which that
end of itself is another huge thing
about it too
you have samsung decks within that usb
type-c port so as stated before that's
another really big thing about it
and when you have a device like this
that has that type of capability
that really is something that sets
yourself apart from a lot of other
phones that come out you know having
that type of desktop experience
is something that's really cool but
there are some cons about it too you
know it's definitely not perfect
the front camera isn't that great you
don't really have any more software
updates so that's kind of like another
big deal about it
the back camera is okay no 4k at 60. the
performance is very choppy
even though it is kind of still like a
fast phone it's definitely not the best
you don't have like a crazy big size
battery and the battery life isn't that
great
it's definitely okay but it's definitely
not going to wow anybody but
i think overall the pros probably
outweigh the cons but
i think because this phone is outdated
in software that is one area that i
would probably recommend everyone to
look at
and probably you know kind of move away
from that and maybe pick up a samsung
galaxy note 10 because that phone is
still getting software support for a
while but
that really pretty much covers it up
